This course will provide architects and industry professionals with the details of railing systems code requirements and testing to ensure they meet IRC and IBC Building Codes. It will also explore how to integrate design elements based on materials and span limits into the structure. The course will include the following learning objectives:

  • Describe the IBC and IRC code requirements for railings

  • Describe how railing systems are tested to ensure their compliance of the IBC and IRC codes

  • Design considerations of materials and spans

  • Improve exterior aesthetics using longer railing spans

Summer is in full swing and with it comes a special edition of our monthly social hour, including the much-anticipated return of the AIA Hilton Head Fantasy Football League!

AIA Hilton Head Island is pleased to announce the return of its 2nd Annual Fantasy Football League for the 2018-2019 NFL football season!!  Last year was a resounding success with opportunities for friendly competition, family gatherings, and good old-fashioned fantasy football fun.  If you're interested in participating this year, please click here to be added to this season's league.

Don't miss out on this special opportunity!  Cost to participate is only $20 per person.  Participation in Fantasy Football is not required to enjoy the networking event, so grab the kids, invite your colleagues and friends and come enjoy happy hour with your fellow industry professionals!

Climate Zoned Cladding & Contemporary Commercial Solutions with Fiber Cement Siding

This course will better inform the designer about fiber cement siding’s physical properties and its benefits, compared to other siding options. The participant will be able to describe the importance of long-term siding performance, and how to extend the longevity of a structure’s envelope using new climate zoned cladding.  This course also illustrates new panel cladding and the best practices for cutting fiber cement siding.
